Alecs & Peggy | Hong Kong

February 13, 2010

We just had a blast from 2 Hong Kong trips. I went for the 1st round to shoot Peggy’s engagement with Alecs. Faiz Kadir(silverklover) & one of my best friend Cedric Chan was also there to shoot this memorable event.Yes, Peggy is from Hong Kong and Alecs from Sri Petaling,KL but they’ve been living in London for quite sometime. They hired us to produce video documentary of their engagement in HK, gate crashing, tea ceremony, dinner in KL, Banquet in HK and also an outdoor photo session in Hong Kong. Let’s save the Video documentary for another post,so we’ll talk more about the photos for this post. Imagine Hong Kong…but at 1130pm/2330, no one was on the street, shop closed but the tram still running though until 1200pm. What a unique experience for us! We started shooting in front of the famous Standard Chartered building and walk all the way to a hill with a very long outdoor covered escalator. Have fun looking at the photos!

Started shooting at this building.

Then we move on to a tram stand where we thought including the tram might show a lil bit of Hong Kong elements.A beautiful capture & timing by Faiz!
alecspeggy10

Then while we were walking i stopped the couple to have a few shots at this very nice downlight with Hong Kong street as the background. I was really lucky to capture & include the tram too!
alecspeggy2

From Faiz’s angle, what a nice lighting & reflection to add some spice to the scene!
alecspeggy6

We were actually thinking to include the building as the main feature but then it didn’t turn out good so i thought maybe i could include the Hong Kong taxi pass by and hopefully it might make a good capture.
alecspeggy7

Peggy’s mom brought us to this very nice looking stairs. Looks like a cobble stone stairs, the area surrounded by bars & pubs made a good night scene.
alecspeggy3

Just a few steps down the stairs, we found a street full of neon lights.nice bling bling background!
alecspeggy4

and another shot of them on that street.
alecspeggy5

And the last spot was very special! It is a covered outdoor escalator stretching all the way uphill. You’ll be amazed how long this escalator is, we were told that the middle group citizen lives on the hill and they will need to take the stairs to go down town Hong Kong for work. Imagine how tiring it is going back up the hill everyday??? So the government built this escalator to make life easier.cool!!!

and lastly my favourite shot of all!

well there’s a lot more Hong Kong contents, photos & videos! so stay tune to our blog!

It is one of those days again where the Adobe Photoshop’s Action habit kicks in again! This job was done for Cedric Chan Studio, one of my best friend during college days @ The One Academy. He’s a designer but then turns out a year or two later he was also shooting weddings! We share ideas & opinions and i learn a lot from him on Chinese & Church weddings. One of the best thing i did for him was to make him sell his Nikon gears and get himself a 5D & 85mm f1.2 lens LOL!!! Sorry Cedric…a man gotta do what a man gotta do…

Anyway enjoy these pics & this is also my first time ever to shoot a non christian chinese wedding. A new experience for me for sure!

And then there was the gate crashing game, the girls had a list of task on paper for the guys! Some of it, Hagen’s friends was required to drink one big bottle of Coke in one shot. Then there was the eating chili stuff which one of Hagen’s friend really enjoyed.

Then it was Hagen’s turn, he was required to put on lipstick which was not bad….

And Hagen went up to pick up the all lovely Ashley.

Lastly the tea ceremony is something like merenjis for malay wedding where the couple will serve the parents and relatives a cup of tea & they will also receive Ang Pao.
Hagen & Ashley
Now its the kids turn to receive Ang Pao from the couple.
Hagen & Ashley
And now of to the Groom’s house.Servings outside the house.
Hagen & Ashley
Another tea ceremony but this time for the Groom’s family members.
Hagen & Ashley
FYI the guy in red is actually something like Pak Andam where he takes care of the ritual. Can be seen here he’s displaying Ashley to the mother in law, checking out all around if she’s in good condition.
Hagen & Ashley
One thing i didn’t know was that they give out jeweleries during the tea ceremony and check out Ashley’s hand & neck.Bling bling all over!
Hagen & Ashley
Check out the blings!

This is the last wedding that we shot just before the fasting month came.Kirk & Jenny approached us at the very last minute. When i say last minute, it was like 2 weeks before their wedding reception! The event was held at The Gardens Hotel, where The Gardens Midvalley is. The restaurant has this very unique circular floor layout, it has the buffet serving in the middle and all around it will be dining tables.

Kirk’s event was very simple even he was wearing white blazer with jeans! Jenny was in a beautiful wedding gown. This time around we took quite a different curve of editing, we don’t usually heavy edit our pictures into a certain kind of color mood.Maybe this is one of those once in the blue moon editing!Have a look at these pics and have your say.

Entertaining the guest before the actual wedding event starts.
Guests arriving!
I love this shot because she was actually reaching for balloons with her right hand but when i snapped she looks as if she were posing for the camera.

Kirk & Jenny gave a short speech before entertaining the guest.

The restaurant’s food was so good & This looks so tasty i couldn’t resist snapping it!!!
The food
Caught this boy drooling too early!

And caught this little guy drooling over the cake with a cheeky smile!

The most happening part of the wedding!
Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaammmmmseeeng!!!
Love this photo because i caught them doing the same thing but in different way in the same frame.Kirk was entertaining his friend on the phone & Jenny was entertaining her friend on the floor.
Vice versa
I just love tea ceremony because this is the only part where all the relatives get together.
Tea Ceremony
Love this one very much, as there are so many layers in this pic.1stly all the boys wearing 88 shirts, then Kirk’s hand was full, one shake hand and the other giving out ang pau. Then the boy’s shirt has Jerry ’shhhhh’ at the camera and the boy is shaking hand with Kirk but the other boy isn’t.
Ang Pau time!
Well one of the adult needs an ang pau too!
Need Ang Pau!

We just love shooting chinese wedding,it’s like a breaker for the usual Malay wedding reception.New things to shoot & new stuff to learn.thx for viewing!
